The Universidad Nacional de Frontera (UNF), through its Vice-Presidency of Research, Directorate of Research Management and Editorial Fund, presents and makes available to the scientific and academic community and society its first issue of “AYPATE” Research Journal of the UNF (ISSN: 2961-2160), whose genesis has the supreme purpose of disseminating knowledge through original results, product of scientific research that represent a contribution to the development of science and technology.
Our cultural diversity, the formation of professionals at UNF with scientific, technological and humanistic knowledge and the different lines of research promoted by our University, has allowed us to develop a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary work with members of the UNF community, as well as external guest researchers, where each of them has contributed to the crystallization of “Aypate”, whose name aims to highlight and demonstrate the magnitude, importance and value of the worldview of our Andean heritage in the region.
Undoubtedly, the significant social use of the “Aypate” Archaeological Complex allows science and academia to revalue and make visible not only this important monumental area but also the Andean deity Apu Aypate on which it is built, framed in a very relevant Andean cosmovision. In the current province of Ayabaca, on the top of Aypate hill, is the monumental Inca archaeological zone of the same name, surrounded by a beautiful biodiverse landscape with high Andean wetlands and cloud forests. This complex was in the past an important and strategic political, religious and administrative center of great relevance, being currently Cultural Heritage of the Nation and World Heritage in the category of cultural itinerary designated by the Ministry of Culture and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
